The arabs are protesting, protests tend to get violant when theres lots of people, or have you all forgotten that 5000 aussies beat up random people on the streets, because 2 life guards got beaten up? Or take any G8 protest as an example. This is a similar case where the extrimists took advantage of the situation, that does not water down the case for the rest. The cartoons were insulting to the muslim population, they had every right to be mad, they had every right to protest. I think its just really sad that some extrimists took advantage of the situation.
zelachang, have you been in Taiwan? Whats it like? Always wanted to go there :)

In the west we value free speech, something not so importand in arab countries, with free speech you inevitably run the risk of offending people...
It's a clash of cultures and I don't see how it will be resolved without alot of ass kissing from the danes, but should they have to?

Freedom of speech does not mean that you can go insult random people, if you dont believe me, go say to your teacher or to a police man etc that "you ****ing filthy ****" ;) Freedom of speech isnt valued so that news papers can make provocative jokes, or that tabloids can write whatever they like. It doesn't give you the right to insult someone no, but even your simple opinion on a subject has the potential to offend someone, whether you do it intentionally or not and everyone has a right to their opinion.

I heard a rumour that a newspaper in Iran has a competition: draw a caricature of the "Jewish-extermination*" = their counter for freedom of speech.
*didn't know the right word, the II World War happening in Nazi Germany.

Normally, I would be championing the side of the religious extremists......No I wouldn't.
I dont want to point any fingers, but I think the real issue here is hypocrisy. If there is one thing I hate in the world, its hypocrisy.
I hate it when in 2006, we dont have freedom of speech to make a few satirical cartoons, but in 1999, we could take the piss out of Christians. (Yes I am a christian). I don't care if you take the piss out of Christians, just do it to every other religion too :)
In my honest opinion, I think the muslims ARE overreacting. Nowhere in the Qu'ran does it say anything about not being able to draw Mohammed, but it does say very clearly about imitating Allah. Its purely a arabic custom.

just heard in the danish news that its not over with drawings in jyllands posten this sunday they will post more cartoons just of jesus...
All the news stations should just stop showing news about this muhammed sh*t, Im really tired of seeing it in the TV all the time.
Think I'll turn off the TV and listen 2 some happycore
