Hey everyone just wondering if next gen has a Digital site/There is a pay-download site that has their stuff available.
Just switching to CDJs and would rather pay to download the mp3s than buy the vinyl and rip it due to quality loss.
Incidentally how does a track recorded to mp3 off vinyl sound in a club?

It sounds like crap mate. If i were you i would keep the decks and just buy the cdj's as well. That way you get the best of both worlds.
Vinyl is being killed off at the moment buy all this mp3/CDj'ing and its a real shame. The quality isn't the same on cd and you can always tell the difference in a club. Vinyl has a lot more power due to it's broader range. Not just that but the feel of buying a bit of vinyl is so much nicer than a ripped cd.
Don't get me wrong i think CDJ's are great but only really for playing your own tunes (i.e. what you have written) or demo's buy your mates and fellow producers.
Viva La Vinyl (as pearl Jam once said)
Anyway welcome to the board

I can tell you this.
On all the threads about digital store on Next Gen forum are all dead, Brisk nor Ham doesnt reply on those threads, aswell as Scott Brown doesnt reply about the 2nd version of his own mp3 store
and for raverbaby (2nd label of the bigger ones that hasnt gone digital), if they had a forum, i wouldnt be suprised if the threads about mp3 or cd-r store would be deleted in a matter of seconds
DJDURSTAN: I propably cant argue about the quality and possibility of DJing with vinyl, but its like clinging to a bow and arrow when you got a magnum and bullets

I don't agree personally the only upside to having cdj in my opinion is that you can play your own tunes and tunes which aren't released on vinyl. i never believe that you should switch formats but i do believe you should integrate cdj's with your decks.

That's one of the big reasons FOR them to go digital. Now worries about pressings, labels, or distribution. Look at CLSM, they've got tracks up for sale two hours after the track is completed.

I have to disagree with you there. I've ripped tons of my old vinyl to CD and played it out with no problems. It's all a matter of how you record it.
I personally made the switch to CD's last year (after playing vinyl for 12 years) and I'm loving it. Vinyl still has a place in my heart, but it has become obsolete.
I will personally be pretty stoked when NG goes digital.

Personally I love the feel of vinyl and I love to see it spinning and being able to touch it and manipulate it, but...
If done correctly, one can rip a vinyl to digital and put it on a CD with minimal degratation only, especially if you use an audiophile grade cartridge/stylus and good phono preamp. If you burn as a CD audio disc you get the added beneift of being able to use the master tempo feature of you CDJ to change the key of the track where you want it and then the tempo to beat match; this especially if you spin prog/house/trance but not so much for hardcore or dnb.
Now if you burn your ripped vinyl as an mp3, your track is going to sound like $hit! Come on now, you are compressing 90+ percent of the information out of the track; how do you think it's going to sound? It may be okay over a pair of $5 headphones, but when you play an mp3 on a big soundsystem with good response, it will sound harsh, flat, and lifeless and the highs will sound tinny and metallic with that overcompression swirling crap going on. I don't know anyone that has done it and been satisfied with their sound. We all burn CDA's to use out and leave the mp3's for our iPods.

vinyl is great, and I love it. But try taking your vinyl to another country and you'll find that you may have to leave it in customs. Cds sound just as good on a PA in a large venue as vinyl minus the pops and sounds that vinyl brings. Even big name dj's spin the stuff on their labels now on cd's because they are smaller to carry. Also, you can get promos sent to you via messenger services like AIM or MSN, try doing that with a record. Vinyl is going to die, will I get rid of my vinyl? NO WAY! But you have to move with the times and use the technology that is at your hands to promote hardcore. Give me cd's, the music gets to you faster and easier, and in the not too distant future, for when I travel, I may only bring cd's.

thanks guys, good to hear it will happen later this year, Ham's on fire lately!
(I like things funky n bouncy)
Also just found the TNC website has a digital store on it too :D
As for raverbaby. . . couldnt care less whether they go digital or not!. . If i wanted to play stuff like that i could just timestretch my own commercial trance...
Anyway despite what people say, the only thing i think makes vinyl sound DIFFERENT (note: not BETTER) , is the tiny imperfections and noise you get with it, giving it a "warmer" sound.
