Last year there was loads of hardcore with 'rap' ripoffs or whatever you call them like on Scott Brown's mix of Bonkers 14. Was this just a passing phase or is there more rapcore in the works with original RnB breabeats?

Two very different things.
Hardcore has always had rap samples since the the dawn of rave. Mainly because of the scene emerging from chicago House and Detroit Techno which were both hugely influenced by B-Boy Culture i.e. Breakdancin', Electro & Hip-Hop which they merged with soul & Disco to create House. (techno was slightly more complex to explain but you get the idea right?

^^^ 100% right.

the pre mid-nineties rap fits in well with a lot of hardcore.
the newer sound of post mid-nineties (gangsta) rap fits in better with dutch hardcore (or gabber)

the only thing Scott Brown was doing was trying to take the gangsta rap into the UK sound. something i dont think worked at all, the music's too happy to be taken seriously.
