The DJ plays the music
The MC talks/ryhmes over the music

and if i ever get confused as to which is which, i use the handy little method to remember...
DJ has the same initials as Disk Jockey - Like some one that rides disks........
And MC has the same initials as Master of ceremonies, or even microphone controler.... Speaks for itself really.
I hope my theory of remembering works for you lol

it's terrible isn't it mate i've never been out in yorkshire but i've raved in the north east and is the same story, feel like your in a dnb room the amount of them constantly going off it "bidi bidi bible bible bee" etc.
Not saying mc'ing doesnt take a lot of talent cos i no it does, as a youngster before i had decks i was a bit of a wannabe and it took me about 2 years to get enough of my own rhymes to last 5 minutes, and still i sounded very similar to a lot of my fav's. Lets just say i've gave that up and it's most defo in the past, can't say i'd enjoy hearing a tape of it played back to me now .
There so popular in britain and have been a part of the scene as long as anyone remembers that goes out now, not saying my opinions right but i could do without them on a lot of sets. If the musics got enough going on it's more than entertaining on it's own, and apart from someone like sharkey hypin everyone up i really dont wanta here any rhymes over it.
But then again with bouncy hardcore it can really work, and i always enjoy seeing chit chat or spenno up on the mic. But with that it aint about the rhyming it's just they've got a friendly style and big personality that rubs off on the whole dancefloor defo no how to create energy. Guess i wish we just had more live pa type sets like nu energy do or 3 deck madness so the music was so entertaining we didnt need mc's as much.
Going to college studying music tech at minute and most my class are young garage/grime mc's. Have to say they've totally changed my view from thinkin everyone into that style was shit to really appreciating the talent in it. Hip hop and grime are more the music for mc's as it's all about them, and get the time to really tell stories and go into deep emotions. Boy shaks in my class's talent is unbelieveable, it's a terrible scene but the talent in some of those mc's goes further than you can ever show over hardcore.
When i'm raving the last thing i want to here is someones life story or non stop rapping so hardcore just aint the music to really show off what you can do.
Forgot to say aswell wotsee's very good, but again i'd only want to hear his style over certain sets. Have also heard he can freestyle really well which would be good to hear.

no one's replied to my topic then (MC's - MC connie) I bet everyone would buy the next HH, HN, BONKERS ect (they will anyway) if they had an MC LIVE! coz it justs sets the music off! but some of you just like listening to the whole track from start to finish! (no no no!) every track starts the same and finishes the same if its on its own!

on those kinda tracks mc's are necessary and i agree thats what a lotta new hardcore sounds like, all the same
thats why we need more random and exciting sets from people with real talent, using all kindsa hardware or 3 deck mixing to liven things up instead of just blending 2 similar tracks together. Not saying it'd be easy either cos would take years of training to get that good but i'd love the scene to be like that.
If anyone hasnt had the chance yet try to get out and see one of the nu energy live pa's is absolutely incredible, mindblowings an understatement.
