For years now I have been hearing people talking about Freeform but everyone seems to have a different idea as to what it actually is. As far as i can tell it's a phrase used to describe hardcore that doesn't seem to fit in any one specific genre (not that genres are that important anyway). I've had people telling me that Marc Smith, Robbie Long (when doing Breakbeat) and Scott Brown (when Playing Gabber) are all freeform. So if anyone out there can please clarify for me what Freeform actually is and perhaps recomend some tunes that typify the sounds of Freeform that would really clear things up for me.
*Phew*

I always thouth Freeform was dark stuff, like stuff amde by Sharkey, Marc Smith, Kevin Energy. There is breakbeat freeform (good stuff) and somtimes dark gabba. I supose happy gabba is like happy hardcore but with fast kickdrum beats (very good stuff)

Freeform is, as you say the stuff that doesn't fit into the other category's.
Label examples: Thin n crispy, Nu-energy, Bonkerz, Go mental dark, Future dance etc etc.
DJ examples: Nu-energy crew, Mark Smith, Energy, Sharkey etc etc.
Gabber is certainly not freeform.
As darren J said it is the progression of trancecore.

Nice one guys thats cleared it up for me. I always thought that Nu-Energy was probably what it was all about. I suppose im stuck back in 2000 when it was still called nu-energy and trancecore.
