Tbh i think its fools hope, we ant guna win the world cup but i hope im wrong. I think well stand a better chance of winning Euro 2008 when Brazil and argentina are out of the way

first of all sven is a great manager but the typical english we are when we have a slight problem the team is in crisis and the manager should be sacked (manchester united for e.g) and then when we do well like england beat argentina everyone goes off on one thinking we are the best team in the world and everyone certain we gona win in 2006 just because of one win. There is only ever two extreme's with english sport fan's which i think the newspaper's are mainly to blame for.
does anyone know if it is possible for brazil and england in the final or will it work out that we meet them in the semi-final???
Main problem we face is lampard and gerrard in mid-field two of the best midfielder's in the world but they jsut cant play together unless beckham sits in behind and when that happen's everyone has a moan about the 4 - 5 - 1 so in my opinion one needs to be on the sub bench and the start of games.

I assume hes a newcastle fan, i think Parker would make a good reserve like Phil Neville but thats it.

Well Bristolboy, tbh, I think that the only english central midfielders better than Parker are Gerrard and Lampard. I mean come on, you can't seriously suggest that Phil Neville, Nicky Butt, Owen Hargreaves or Ledley King (in midfield) will do a better holding job than Parker? Alot of people have been sayin that Gerrard and Lampard shouldn't be played together due to their tendency to get forward. Being a Geordie and a regular attendee to home matches this season I have seen the passion, grit and determination Parker has. And IMO, if we are to play a holding player with Lamps or Gerrard, it should be Parker. I mean look at the Wigan and Arsenal games. He pulled his groin and got cracked in the face yet he still went on (although he did later go off against Arsenal).
Just my opinion though. Yet again I can spell England.

as much as i dont like England i'm all for them RULE BRITTANIA!!! i'm from scotland nd i dont exsactly want to see England win but i'll supporting them all the way

Is phil neville in the squad this year? he is a genuine good strong player for england, i always feel very confident when i see he is in the line-up, he's the sort of player united need right now, someone who can stand up to the mark when everyone else is giving up, and if we still had players like him at united no way would keane of left.

oh dear i feel a diatribe coming on, ok well for starters..Sven is pretty good if u compare him with the past, the last success we had was when old Terry V was in charge in 96. That said he is a little defensive for me at times and his subbing is a a joke. All in all I agree we as fans either think we're the worst or best and nothing in between. We should stop it i suppose but then better to go down in style or robbed than do a german greece trip and win with 1-0s playing ugly football. Besides the euro fix....an Olympic year i ask you!!! still funny watching france lose to them after we did another classic balls up againest the french,

As to formation...the left? Joe Cole acts to much for the cameras with tricks, ok for once in the argentina match it worked but how many times has it not? Hargreaves has never come to form but in his first match for england his cross from the left is the best i have seen.
Now they have tried Bridge there in front of Ashley Cole but never the other way around, which seems more logical to me as Cole has been critised defensively at times but his runs are excellent so Sven are you listening.
Beckham should be on the right full stop. Best right winger in the world but a Zidane he is not. King in the holding role has been good, as was Butt who I hated until the last world cup, now I know why United fans considered him such an unsung hero in his time there.
Now I am a Liverpool boy since I was 8, a brummy glory chaser for Rushie Kenny Weelan Hansen but I have stuck with them. Liverpool today would be nothing without Gerrard he almost single handed kept liverpool in the top four at times, he is a proper hero and by the way can we have owen back please Newcastle. However that said i agree he and lampard struggle together, and i hate to say it as I have little love for Chelsea but Lampard is the boy in form for england, so why not have one on the bench? How many times have one of you sat and looked at our bench and thought there is nowone to put on!!! At this world Cup you will be able to look and say is it Terry Ferdinad or Campbell? Gerrard or Lampard could be on the bench burning to get on, Owen back from injury hungry with something to prove and players like wright-phillips to replace the cap if we need to, Carrager and Hargreaves utility players who can cover several positions. That must be encouraging for an england fan any england fan.Goal must be robinson, kick James to touch third if u had to but give Kirkland a chance, Ok, finally strikers, easy?? Owen and Rooney golden boy and thug don't seem to gel, two of the best footballers in the world,in my opinion don't seem to work, but how can you not play them. Crouch.....hmmm...Owen's pole vault pole so we can beat argentina. Ok he is now scoring but Defoe is fast and I have to say Sinclair Vassell and Cole at Man City seem to be gelling welll,
I hate Andy Cole I mean really dislike in a "you bottle it way"but the trio have been playing well together.

How's that for a prediction??? God that aweful...I need something happy to finish on...erm ok...NO SOUTH AMERICAN TEAM HAS EVER WON IN EUROPE !!! I will be in Koln which is two hours away for me so COME ON!!!
