Lol - ben mate i wish i new what it was called its a collaberation of all styles if you can do it...

There is so many styles and nmes for scratches.

Bets thing is if you wanna scratch get decent scratch record and needle and copy some scratching you hear and feel it in ya motion:) It will come to you after practice (alot of practice).

There are some good basic scratch titorials also and some names given on then i think of scratches liek the quosh site with sy giving a few lessons.

Sorry mate I couldnt remember your name lol

Ive been watching the Q-Bert scratch sessions but he makes it look too easy. I dont have vinyl either so im stuck trying to use vocals and noises on cd's which is proving harder than I thought.

I'll just keep practicing. How light should the x-fader be too, mines light but you still have to move it with a bit of force if you know what i mean

ass scratchin!!!! lol

the focus faders are the best type I come across, alot of mixers dont really give you a chance to scratch properly. Its a nightmare when you play out and the x fader is broken :(

People tend to follow what a scratch name is and etc etc, i really think bet best way to learn is to feel it through your body when listening to a dj scratch them try to emulate that when you do it, you get that passion and feel going and it will come to you eventualy.

I might be doing some scratching vids soon on what i know and can do :)

good luck.

p.s. q bert yeah agree he makes it so easy, but there on a different level.

I think you're spot on there scott, the best way to learn how to scratch is to try and copy what you hear other dj's doing rather than trying to learn all the different names of the different scratches. Once you have got the basics sorted then you can look into the technical side of things which will help you to take things to the next level and allow you to develop your own style. Personally it was a case of listening to old Sy tapes thinkin how the **** is he doing that!? Demo videos is a wicked idea as people can see and hear exactly what is goin on.

Seize the moment
