in two thousand four, it was HARDCORE
regular enzyme stuff is mainly hardcore (gabber, like, "have it your way" by nosferatu) and Darkcore (like "We are ousiders" by meagashira), the X-releases are more experimental hardcore (IDM influenced, industrial influenced, generally "off the beaten track" kinda hardcore) and the K7's are a bit more to the rough side of the regular enzyme but more "coherent" (for the lack of a beeter word to discribe it), but still hardcore/darkcore (like the hamunaptra and d'spyre)

^^ Thanks!
I was just wondering cause I was in a forum awhile back with a bunch of guys slagging Enzyme and Endymion cause they were too "commercial" or something
I personally love Enzyme recs (just before Traxtorm ) and it made me wonder if what I like wasn't really "hardcore"

well, I can understand the comments when you compare some of the last releases to their older work and the more underground stuff.
For example, the difference between a "commercial" track like "have it your way" or "p*ssy motherf*cker" and a more underground track like "threebond of consent", "we are outsiders" or "deus ex machina" you can understand that he enzyme style is very varied and there was a time indeed when the feeling of enzyme records diminished a bit (I agree on some parts, like the last ophidian cd wasn't as good as expected).

Well it's been a while for me, but this post/question should B answered by a Dutch guy I guess, 'couse gabber is a Dutch-word .
It came from the rivalry between 2 cities: Rotterdam (where most of the hardcore started) & Amsterdam. The guys in Amsterdam didn't like the hard sound of hardore and said that it was music for gabbers (gabber = Dutch word for buddy/friend, mostly used in Amsterdam though...). So it was some sort of an 'abusive' word. The people from Rotterdam liked it and called their 'house-music' gabber. So that's where gabber comes from .
Hardcore is knowadays a global name for the harderstyles in music in Holland (The Netherlands). Hardly anaybody uses the word gabber to describe the music-style. The people who love the music are called gabbers however.
Well that's all I know about it... And surfing this forum I can see that there are a lot of differences in what to call a different kind of music style . Still, I like happy hardcore & hardcore/gabber and could listen to them all day.

What? flemish ppl ain't enough for mister high and mighty dutchy? ;)
as for the rivalry, not exactly how i heard it (both like the hard sound but contended for supremacy in the gabberscene).
As for using gabber to describe the music, you're right, hardly anyone in holland, belgium, germany or france uses the term gabber for he music but only fo the hardcoreheads themselves (like me :p)

Well sure, the Dutch are much better (moewhaha). No just kidding... I didin't mean to offend flemish people Knightmare . I live near Roosendaal and for me it's a 15 minutes drive to Belgium. Many friends of me live in Belgium, so I wouldn't try to offend any of them .
OFFTOPIC p.s. Do you know any clubs in Antwerp/Anvers which play the harder styles of music? I usually go to café d'Anvers (and have a good time), but was wondering if there are clubs like Zillion, Zino, etc...
