deffinately a great idea, as long as there are 2 other discs or something w/ well known DJs otherwise unknown/unheard just won't sell because they are unknown/unheard.

i reckon it would be better to have well known and popular songs interspursed with unknown ones so then it will get even more coverage than an individual cd as people are often off put by them and avoid them

I think for starters you could get some CD mixes going around with these artists material so people know who they are and will look out for them, etc.
So say, you would submit your tunes and someone would mix it, then it would be distributed, cds, all over the net etc.. :) Basicly an Underground Mix cd, representing the up & coming talent...

In sayin that...Silver usually plays a lot of new stuff on his mixes...A full CD of it would still be quality though!!

If you wanted to do some sort of CD it is possible... I could pitch the idea to a few companies but not sure if they will take it as they will want to see "big names" on the CD in order for it to sell...
So there would be three things we could do to get around this...
1. We get remixes done of all your tracks by big names, the artists themselves would have to pay for the remix. This will range anywhere between 50-1500 pounds depending on who you want to get to remix. Usually the bigger the name the bigger the remix price. We release on a major label or distributor.
2. We get 200-300 paid pre-orders before we go on sale - we could release via a major distributor this way.
3. We release the CD without a major CD company label, just sell it online.
it's all hardcore.

That does sound like a mighty fine idea. Or even, available to sell online, but also free to download too?
I know that ******** Records have done that. They have the entire CD compilation available to download as well having the option to buy the CD online.
An incentive to buy online could be a DVD with Rave footage, audio samples, and wallpapers and the like.
I know when I speak for the online community when I say, I love free stuff
But an incentive buy get the CD online would propel sales imo.
