When I'm introducing my music style to other people, they often thinks that Hardcore is some hardcore punk style. How is this even possible?
If I'm not totally mistaken, "our" Hardcore came before punk hardcore?
Punk Hardcore shouln't even be called Hardcore at all, we need all rights reserved. Silver, it's time to open your wallet and do something important xD Just kidding.
Well what do you guys think about this missunderstanding going on? Especially where I'm from, Stockholm / Sweden

There is a form of rock called hardcore. It's basicly nonsence (screaming banging on stuff ect.) So it's very possible they are mistaking our hardcore from what they know. I think its ok I dont see a problem with the people that mistake it. I remember a tsr episode a while back where they got hate mail becasue of the same reason. (That was pretty funny) Other times I have seen people posting events and such like Rock shows and other "Hardcore Punk" concerts. It's just the way it is.

Damn hardcore punk idiots.
The other people that really piss me off are emo kids. EErgh, idiots.
And Goths. Goths are jerks.
Anyway. I just call it hardcore. My friends, through lots of education, have learned not to question it and rave in the van with our fully sick subbs!

punk rock came about in the late seventies. when it reached the usa it wasn't as raw as in the uk. when the second wave of punk rock happened on the east coast and likewise in the west coast, it was more raw and defined by style rather than snotty british "punks" being that it was more intense than say, the buzzcocks, the term hardcore came about to define it. Bands like minor threat and black flag came about and defined the hardcore sound over the punk sound. Straight Edge groupes came about and pretty much took over the hardcore scene. Hardcore came back with a vengence in the early and mid 90's right into the late 90's with the rise of straight edge bands like Earth Crisis, Ten Yard Fight, and Trial, a Seattle band. So, the statement about hardcore techno being around before hardcore punk is false. Now, by my knowing all this useless knowledge lends the belief that I have become pretty versed in the history of Punk, Hardcore Punk, and Straightedge and Christian Straightedge music. I'm also a father of two, successfull in my job, covered in many "punk" tattoos. And one of the nicest people you will ever meet, sometimes going out of my way to make people happy. So I guess statements like this could hurt ones feelings.

No need for telling how bad Punk people are. They are humans as well, and they probably have the same to say about us.
The thing is, In Sweden, Hardcore punk is more popular then "our" Hardcore and that stinks alot :(
I have to demonstrate the type of music, then maybe they'll understand.

Once where I used to work, someone asked me what kind of music I listened to...When I said "hardcore"...she said: "Eh, That's that headbanging stuff isn't it?"
I didn't reply...
Can you actually imagine headbanging to Hardcore?!?

You sir, need to learn how to take a joke. I am Christian, and I listen to Christian pop punk. I can appreciate it. But alas, you did not see the joke.
Sean and myself have an ongoing thing with Goths and emo kids.

Not that it matters anyway. Really, I could call it happyspeedtrance if I wanted to. I mean, will the creators of either genre march down to my house and demand that I call it by its rightful name? Call it what you will, enjoy the music and support either scene. Honestly, how can people get so cranky over a name?
