DJing and mixing hardcore, breakbeat, gabber, drum and bass and anything over 160 is actually much much harder to do than house or techno or trance .... I think slower BPM DJ's should respect the skills DJ's have to mix over 160BPM....
Sometimes when I see a slower BPM DJ screw a mix up I feel like kicking their ass because mixing slower BPM is piss easy when you can mix hardcore.
it's all hardcore.

if thats true I should go pick up some trance just to practice with for the time being.. and maybe use it for times when hardcore just isnt appropriate
I'm guessing its easier because the tempos are easier to match?

mixing trance is rarely ever appropriate
don't stand and stare, just kick your legs in the air

That's what I did... well, not trance, but house. I started on hardcore, but couldn't beatmix properly, so I bought some house vinyls, it was piss easy to mix, so then I went back to hardcore and it helped a lot.... and the house vinyls haven't been touched since.

how strange.....i started off mixing trance and actually found it quite hard to keep the beats in time, almost as if i had to concentrate harder to keep them going....as soon as i switched to hardcore/freeform i had no problems
effectively, the complete opposite to a few of the responses posted here...

same here learning to mix house/trance was hard , cause it was so slow. eventually i mastered it.
then when i switch to hardcore i learned to mix it in like 1 month.
then i tried to mix some trance and it was impossible, and like it was torture.,

hardcore has a lot of different things you can use to keep it in line, so it's a bit easier that way, however since there is so much going on, you need to be that much more crisp to keep it all in line. Trance and house is tough for the opposite reasons, less going on, so mistakes are noticeable, however there is less to worry about.

I agree with silver. But I still respect trance/house/techno dj's VERY much because some really know how to work the crowd. Last year at DEMF (Detroits Electronic Music Fest) Kevin Sanderson a Techno DJ played one of the most amazing sets I have ever heared in any style of music. It was insane.

personally, i would think that trance/house would be easier to mix BECAUSE of the slower tempo, there would be less beats to count and keep track of. Btw, with trance i like it hard still or just with a progressive driving beat. (I like DJ Networx alot in hard trance)
