Right I’ve finished a track that I want to add vocals to and I have my singer what now? I am using F L Studio and need to know:

A. The best way to get the vocals on to my computer what programs I’ll need etc.

B. How to then put them into the tune do you do it in the same way you would use any sort of wav sample?

C. Any sort of effects I should be using to add the finishing touches?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If your recording straight to your computer, you'll need a program like Sound Forge, or Wavelab or something like that, something that can record from the line in. Then you would just record whatever it is you wanted with one of those program's, it's very simple :)

The answer to B is: yes, you would do it the same way. But you need to make sure the vocals are at the same speed as the rest of the tune.

To answer C: Personally, and i think everyone else, would use some sort of delay on the vocals, or at least reverb, or they will sound very dry. You could try using a stereo enhancer or sterep chorus on the chorus section of the vocals, or in fact, on all of them. I think you'll find stereo chorus is used alot on vocals, but i've never seen a plugin for such an effect, not that i've really looked though :P

Cheers for the help m8 I’ve got a metronome so I should be able to get the singing timed correctly using that.

When I finish the track I’ll post it on here for feedback (once I find out how). The tracks a bit simple and needs allot of work but maybe some feedback can help me find out where I’m going wrong I’ve been trying to teach myself and finding it a bit daunting.

A. Cool edit, Sound Forge, Wavelab

B. You need to play the track in singers headphones (so she can keep time) and record the singer on the microphone.

C. Reverb :)

Also don't bother trying to record the whole vocal track in one take, record it in chunks or musical 'phrases' and save these as seperate samples.

For the FX try getting your hands on PSP Nitro, there are some nice presets that will bulk up the vocals in no time with a little tweeking :)
