hey there.
i've been trying all day to find out how to make a single sound.
it's the sound that has been replacing most of the snares and claps in today's hardcore.
a great example is in dougal & gammer - 6th gate (breeze & styles mix).
i mean the sound that you hear on ever 2nd kick.
anyone know how to do this?
i've been asking a few people who are not envolved in hardcore, how to do this, but none of them knew.
any help?
thanks! ;)

Trying getting you nomal everyday clap or snare, change the pitch and add some reverb. Sometime just that lil hint of reverb can change the whole sound.

Its a clap. With gated reverb. Remember that - gated.

Or just a Clap with a long pre-delay- Don't think you could call that Gated though. Around the 100ms area-can't quite remember. :)

Also you can listen to just about any D&G track to hear it :P

Gated reverb as a send works great on most drum sounds, and sounds wicked with distortion on the reverb. That way you have a clean hit and a dirty reverb.

i got a very nice one the other day by getting a 909 clap, sticking it through a distortion machine and pitching it up by 5 steps...sounds very nustyle :)
other than that, trance sample cds :)

ok, thanks for the replies!
and as for samples, i prefer to only use them as fx or vocals.
simply cause otherwise it's much harder to tweak new sounds :)

(and it's cheaper, too)

Don't forget about the compression to make it that bit tighter :)

OKAY THIS IS WHAT YOU DO-

1.) grab a mic

2.) press record on your recording program

3.) Clap into the mic

4.) stop the recording

5.) save and open in your producing program

6.) forget about following the trends of the other hardcore songs, now you've got your OWN clap!

7.) Nice work! you get an A for the day!

lol, actually, you're on to something there
except a synthetic clap doesn't make one, but three (3) {yes, three!} claps in a row
you would usually not hear this out cause it's played at such a high frequency, but if you listen carefully (or just cheat by downsampling it, like me), then you can hear RATATAP :D
so if i did what you just said and played it 3 times in a row, it would most probably sound like an original clap :)

Or just stick it through a chorus

Hmmm, I'm wondering who Fraud uses when he wants to make a kick....... "just stay completely still Sean....... if you could hold that mic a bit closer to your butt that'd be great.....BANG!"
