Today morning woke up, put my PC on and started browsing forums. Starting here ofcourse, was replying to that Splix's new tune topic, when my PC desided to freeze. Ok had to restart the PC to get it work again. When restarted it, it gave me a "Boot disk failure, insert boot disk" or something like that. Ok closed it again, and then put it on again. After thi seemed to be working, so came back to here to read the rest of the topics. After a while it gives me this blue screen and says "Beginning to dumb on physical memory" or something like that, and after that she restarts herself.

Now, uhm, why did it do that? I'm now doing a virus scan with it (didnt find any), but it has stayed on. Though i desided to read the rest of the forums with my mac, and suprisingly used first Opera to browse, came here to finally finish reading the topics, and Opera gave me an error. Sayd i should restart my computer o_O Well now i'm using IE on my mac and it seems to be working... But... anyway, anybody have any idea why my PC did that?

Could be worse - a few weeks back i lost absolutely EVERYTHING off my PC!

Still don't quite know what happened, all ok now though (minus loads of stuff).

I'll have to have a word with Mole about getting some tunes.

Could have a dodgy boot sector.

Try running a scan disk and hope for the best, otherwise you may have to prepare yourself for a new hard disk drive.

The last 10Gb of my HD is already broken, so it might be that. Very stupid question but... where is scan disk? I remember it was on Win98, but is it on XP the "Error-checking"?

Indeed it does sound like that, though also check that none of the RAM has failed on you either, but more likely the hard drive.

Ok, now tryed to put my PC on,
1. It freezed after loading all programs -> restart
2. Says that ntoskrnl.exe is missing or corrupted and i should reinstall the file. -> restart
3. Restartes itself just when it should start opening windows
4. Now its working

...and all these restarts without proper closing make even more corrupted files :(

Sounds like a possible virus infection there. Update your virus scanner, then scan the whole of the disk, see what happens with that

I don't think it's a virus at all, you can re-install the ntoskrnl (I remember doing that from my NT 4.0 days!). But I'm pretty sure it's a dodgy hard disk that is causing you an intermittent problem.
