well theres no point having a nice expensive mixer with numark decks . a gemini ps540i would do you
if you want to get a nice big expensive mixer try upgrading to technicks 12 10 decks first :P then you can look ata nice phat vestacks mixer or perhaps warrior

nothing wrong with numarks =P their faders (decks and mixers) just go a little quick. plus, upgrading one part at a time works best i think. save up and get what you need, the upgrade slowly from there

I know how ya'll are saying to save up your money to get Technics1200; but what if your not sure if your serious about Dj'ing? So what do you recommend on buying for someone who has no experience at all?

Any kind of low torque direct drive drive decks.
I may have a pair for sale shortly Gemini 500xl II
If I get my techs soon I'll be letting those go for 150$

they have too much torque for my taste, i don't need +50 and key lock isn't necessary unless you understand what key each song is in.
they aren't bad i just like the way techs feel, they are a bit smoother. give everything a test run before you buy, its all personal choice.

ive played on Techinics and Numark TTX1's, and i far prefer the TTX1's.
the Bpm isnt really needed, the keylock is very useful for ambient/chillout sets. the option to change between 8%, 10%, 20% and 50% has also proved useful on a number of occasions. and i also like the look of the TTX1's more than the technics design. as soon as i get a soundcard with a digital input im gonna be using the digital in's and outs that the TTX1's/ PPD01 (mixer) has, which should be fun. i would agree with what the fella said earlyer though - Numark faders (on the mixers) do seem to go pretty quickly.

Technics are a little overrated in my mind. They are the benchmark, no doubt and I heard they are so stable you can stand on them without damaging them! Having said that I think they are often not the best choice. At uni we have a set but they are only used when guests come into to DJ cos they are often really arrogant and demand that they won't play on anything else! We have a set of Numark tt1's and I would opt for them anytime.
The technics have fewer features (key locks, bpm, etc) but concentrate on just working really well.
Definately personal choice though. Don't be afraid to take some tunes to the shop and ask to try 'em out.
