Dougal is the long haired dog, off of the childrens TV show "The Magic Roundabout".
Anyway that's the story I heard about where he got his name from!

i havent seen a recent pic of dougal for ages, has he still got that ridiculous long hair so favoured by all the hardcore djs in '95?

No. Not many hardcore artists still have long hair. All I know who still has it long are Scott Brown and Vibes.
