I released my 23rd Happy Hardcore track, "Reminiscing" 2 weeks ago and it was a huge hit. Got over 100 views on YouTube, my friends were finally coming up to me instead of me chasing down their opinions.

I made friends with a U.K. guy who moved to Texas, and he said "That's It! That's It! when he said he used to listen to HHC, he put his UK friends on the line and they cussed with approval.

I felt like I reached a new level of production and was so excited I pulled up an old song "Pray", and totally transformed it with new melodies, instruments and full vocals. The fun synth line came to me when I was waking up last week and quickly wrote it down in the morning!

What do you think of Pray Version 2?

You can find it on my bandcamp as well.

Your sound is beginning to take shape, considering your previous uploads. I wouldn't call them "Releases" just yet though.

Keep practicing! :)

I know my mastering is bad, I got 2 of my friends telling me that and I completely believe them.

Give me some specifics to work with. I just checked out your "Silent Race" and it was smooth, clean, and polished. Sounded professionally mastered. So, I'm wondering if there are other aspects besides mastering you are thinking of. I'm very interested cause its tough for me to get detailed feedback.

I might be wrong here, and I think I mentioned it before, but my approach is heavily influenced by the early HHC in the 90's. Back then they didn't even use glue on the kicks from what I understand. I'm trying to go all out on the melodies, pump up the emotions, and put in something weird or different so people remember the song (in this case, the fun synth starting around 1 minute

Maybe they don't totally like it, so I try to leave some space in the arrangements in hopes of them remixing or playing it live someday, and they can add in their own things on top, like FX they like. There are so many rough, nonperfect early HHC I got obsessed with, so I need someone to slap me back into 2026 I guess.

I got obsessed with the early HHC because it had such strong feelings, and thats my goal, I am still working towards improving the feelings. I believe the "roughness" can enhance that sometimes. Thats the belief I may need challenged.

Thank you for the feedback and I hope you keep checking out my stuff and commenting.

I just realized, I should say something specific.....

Dream Tripper's Meadowland, the DJ Unknown Remix, was my main influence for "Pray Version 2"

Not sure if that helps but there it is haha.

These days I keep the mastering to a minimum. Get the mix right. Sometimes going back to the mix is really the answer, and not fancy eq curves.

Listening to your track, it seems there's something wrong with your listening enviornment.
The bass is pretty much non-existent. for the most part, it seems like you've high-passed the whole mixdown starting at around 200-300 Hz. I can tell you like the 90's sound and so do I. Back then the limitations of the technology really influenced the sound. in modern DAW's the high resolution of digital media is unforgiving in that the high frequencies can make it sound nice and crisp, misleading you if your ears are not that discerning.

I wonder, though, if you've actually taken the time to mix your tracks alongside other releases before thinking of sending this out to be played/promoted.

Spot on!

If I told u my listening enviroment and equipment you'd laugh so let's not mention that for now....

I'm using the dance master preset setting in Ableton, and afraid to alter it, I have a feeling it might be making things too hot. Maybe that's the high pass 200-300 you're hearing. I do love how it makes the percussion sizzle though.

I have this fear of too much bass clipping or annoying a casual listener, or maybe it's my preference because I never had strong bass headphones growing up, but at the last minute I seem to reduce it out of fear of its clipping, but I have been reading about gain and clipping lately to get over it.

I'm guessing by mixing alongside other tracks, that would be other modern tracks that it would theoretically be played against in a DJ mix. That's a good idea thank you and always appreciate your feedback..
