Ive always wondered, did he get clearance to use those samples ?
For instance in the track "Please dont cry" its a sample taken from a Concord Dawn track "Morning Light", I cant find any evidence to suggest he was allowed to use it.
Tracks that feature rap artists etc
Theres also rumors that he got Elysium piano riff from another song ?

he's sampled so many tracks that he might've made a screw up at least once.
Considering he knows when not to sell a track, I would guess that if it's available digitally, then the rights are clear. See Catch and Turn Up the Music for tracks that havent re-appeared digitally in any official capacity.

it's also up to the rights-owners to catch people who might not have licensed the vocals properly.
either that, or the new monkey guys were willing to license it

He's also sampled quite a few melodies. I think it was Prince of Darkness, which he sampled a Gabber or Techno track.
Him only re-releasing Rock You Softly 2005 and not the original digitally, which just has a slight melody change, leads me to believe the original one is sampled and they wouldn't allow him to use it.
Some other times where he had to edit a track to take out the sampled vocals in Ghosts and Twilight Zone.
... and of course the whole Now Is The Time fiasco, which he has officially given up on recently and took all mixes down from streaming.

back in the evolution record forum days, he was quite often posting about copyright law and stuff, so I guess he was clued up. The said, he seems determined to remove all traces of Now is the time and no one knows why, but when I asked him if it was a legal thing he said that it wasnt. It still seems weird that he took it off every platform though, especially as he has albums called now is the time

if it isn't a legal thing, maybe he had a falling out with the co-producers of the track and didn't want any more royalties?
or perhaps didn't want to pay royalties to use the samples because he didn't want to pay whoever owns the sample copyright, out of disdain or principal?

No he said the opposite actually. Because I said on facebook that I would set up a fundme if its a legal thing and he replied saying thanks but its not that, hes just fed up with it and even said he's got a project or something with Artemesia that they are working on.
maybe its the martin luther king sample lol or ICE MC didnt like him using "Hello" the version Darren Styles seems to play these days have neither of them samples anymore either lol

My thinking is, he's over the fanbase of the track. Imagine spending years making anthem after anthem, just to be asked "Play Now Is The Time!"

not that I know an easy way to find out how many actually listen to it, but based on what I can see on Last.fm as an example, Now is the Time doesnt even crack the top 10 "Scott Brown" tracks
https://www.last.fm/music/Scott+Brown/+tracks?date_preset=ALL not even when I try to combine the "Scott Brown vs DJ Rab S" plays helps

he sampled rock you softly again alongside his track with DMO called I really need you, both tracks make up his newish track Hold Me Close - same lyrics and that familiar tune from Rock me softly

To be brutally honest I thought "Now is the Time" and the tune he sampled it from are absolutely shite.
Overrated pish IMO!

There may have been an individual topic that covered Scott Brown's tracks years ago. It may have been in the Evolution Records topic or The big list of hardcore rips offs/cover versions topic.
Another of Scott's tracks that has samples from another track is Feel the Beat. Uses the vocal sample that features in Forze DJ Team - '98 to Piano.
