I think this is a pretty damn good indicator that hardcore's gaining prominence... I managed somehow to land a set (though it sounds crappy) at a nearby public high school. I'm doing it for free though... think about it!
If we have the population of a suburban american school demanding hardcore... it's gaining definite foothold. Hardcore's chugging forward ;)
All said, this is gonna be one crappy gig.

good work mate! do they a) know your playing Hardcore and b) know what hardcore is??
Dunno what the vibe'll be like like or anything like that but just make sure you get em dancin, oh and leave the gabba till the end, you dont wanna scare everybody off..

heh, i played a "party" in one the dorms that i lived in's cafeteria
as far as the questions go, i'd probably say no and no =P
if all else fails switch it to some hardcore techno and act like you don't care what everyone thinks

Um, they DO know what hardcore is. They brought me in specifically for that reason. In fact, they're advertising it with the slogan 'And you thought your school didn't know how to party hard!'
Yeah, sorta a "WTF!?" situation but hell.
I'm actually starting off uplifting trance and after maybe... you're shining and starlight dropping in spinback & storm - break the night. It's all uphill from there. I might even end with bang da beatz or ghosts...

i spun hardcore at my school once... they asked if I had any hip hop... then they tried to grind to hardcore... not a pretty site...

^^^ hahah actually I did the same thing when I was in high school. I used to DJ most of the school dances for all the students and I dropped Force mass motion - Jack of diamonds back in 1992... people were like doing cartwheels and stuff :)

I would kill for the chance to spin hardcore at a high school, if only to see the look on their faces. How did you manage it without having the rave/drugs connection come up? I'm 100% positive the cops in my town would equate even house music to hoards of people on e.
