While going back and listening to my Bonkers, I'm noticing some weird knicks in the transitions and wondered if anyone else noticed any.
Bonkers Vol.4 - Dougal's Mix
It sounds like Dougal brought in Leaving The World Behind a beat or measure too late into Shooting Star.
Bonkers Vol.6 - Dougal's Mix
It sounds like Dougal was off beat again with brining Space Invader into Rhythm on Time, and he just quickly cuts off Rhythm on Time.
Do yall notice any off beat transitions in the series?

Sure I can. Bonkers 1 - Hixxy mix comes to mind. There are several times during a blend when you can hear both tracks drifting out of time with each other, and then you hear a sharp change in pitch signifying that a track was nudged back in time.
Nothing wrong with it at all, and in fact, it makes them more enjoyable to know they were mixed authentically by a human.

Definitely hear that on the transition between Bust The New Jam & Step To The Side. And I agree, it has a human touch to it.

and on vinyl. tho you can hear some slow down, speed ups from sets when cdjs first hit the raves around 2003ish on the tape packs.
i remember hixxy around 97/98, it was like he was even trying to cue and beat match the tracks up, without headphones. mixing every minute, it sounded nasty, like when you just started to learn to mix on vinyl after dropping a pill!!
do cdjs get used at raves now/ or is it all controllers?

I think cdjs are still the most popular. I see them the most, at least in my city. Otherwise it's a controller which is less common...and every now and then you see a turntable in the wild, which is rare but awesome!

Bonkers 4 - Hixxy, after Power of Love into whatever comes next (can't remember) - there is a noticeable slow down of Power of Love to bring it back into time, like he's put his finger on it sharply to slow it down. Like others have said, it's actually OK because you know it's a person doing it, not a programmed mix in Cubase or similar.

Power of Love into Distant Skies. Actually I think it adds some character to that transition.

That's some bad character then XD
Those two tracks clash a bit too much for that to have worked.

Ya, thought the same too. But in Hixxy's defense, does Distant Skies mix in well with anything though? You would need a track that just has the drums and bass at the end; no melody for it work.
Even on Happy2bHardcore Chapter 3, Frolic used it as the opening track; probably just to avoid having to mix it into a track.

I think I did a valiant effort. Note that this was my 3rd mix ever, and I think this transition is somewhat better than the Bonkers one

It sounds good. Bold choice going from the dark days of Hardcore back into the happier side.
