Finally got around to doing this. I've been listening back to a lot of the tracks from that time (2012-2014), and there is some hidden gems in there. Obviously it's not looked back on fondly, mainly for the horrible drops, but some of the vocals, breakdowns and melodies are fantastic. The dubstep/electro drops are pretty energyless at times but in the overall track it doesn't bring it down too much. I'd even say there's way much more variety than what's being offered today.
Anyways, would really appreciate some feedback on it, and if you enjoy, a repost on Soundcloud and possibly whatever social media site you use. Here's the tracklist:
quote: 01. Darren Styles, Prospect & Becci - Lose Yourself
02. Breeze & Chris Unknown - R3tro
03. Anon - Byrne
04. Petruccio & Modulate feat. Marie Louise - Escape
05. Herd & Fitz feat. Abigail Bailey - I Just Can't Get Enough (Re-Con & Squad-E Remix)
06. Darren Styles & Dougal - Don't Give Up
07. Dougal & Gammer vs Klubfiller - Do What You Wanna Do
08. Darren Styles & Gammer - Paranoia
09. Gareth Emery feat. Christina Novelli - Concrete Angel (Darren Styles & Chris Unknown Remix)
10. Scott Brown - Follow Me
11. Gamridye - Reezus
12. Black & White - The Awakening
13. Oxygen feat. Andrea Britton - Am I On Your Mind (Darren Styles & Re-Con Remix)
14. Ayah Marar - The Raver (Darren Styles Remix)
15. Darren Styles & Modulate - To The Stars
16. Gammer & Klubfiller - Future Fuzz
17. Alex Bassjunkie & Riche - How Cold
18. Scott Brown - Promise

Nice mix, I don't tend to listen to stuff from this era much so it was good to hear a load of tracks I'd totally forgotten about!

Got it on now mate. Sounding canny so far. Gave you a follow on SoundCloud too. Funny you've uploaded this mix today. This morning I was listening to the breeze, petruccio & modulate set at htid when they played all these types of tunes. Can't find the set on SoundCloud to share it though

There was a lot of great music in that era and none of it was dubcore. Also wasn't scott brown - follow me released in 2016?

I'll defo be giving this a listen. I really liked that era. It felt like dnb and hardcore we're the closest they'd been since the early 90s. Shame everyone slagged it off... If only we'd know then just how shit it was about to get, then maybe we would have appreciated it more.

Dubcore was the absolute pits and I'd definitely take what we have now over that utter shite.

Sadly I agree. I know Hardcore has always copied from other genres (and vice versa) but this period and the current is more outrageous with it's copying than before the EDM era.
But I will definitely gives this a go just to listen to the mixing itself.

Why is it labelled the Dubcore era ? Just because it borrows a few wubs from dubstep ?

From what I remember people saying at the time, "Dubcore" took more from "Drumstep" than Dubstep

Shame that UK Hardcore does not take from Hard House. It used to during the Freeform era but not anymore. If it did then it would be right up there!
