First off, Hello this is my first post here.

OK I'm new to mixing / dj'ing, I've been messing on my mates decks for a while and have decided to get my own...

(This type of question has probably been asked before, but...)

I have about £200 - £300 to spend on some decks, and I was wondering what the best type is to get? For value for money and quality.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Get directs if you can, but i'd recommend stantons. directs skip much less and if you dont have a stable surface to put your decks on belt drives will skip a fair bit especially if you're scratching. i have pair of bels and they dont let you down but they . my decks were 180 each and the mixer 60 and well...theyve lasted for 2 years now

If you can, for beginners decks you're looking at a pair of Stanton direct drive decks. Not too pricey and they help you get used to using Direct Drive decks.

Ive got a pair of Technics 1210 now (the standard)! Only when you have the money and feel it is right should you buy some technics! It's pay off I promice!

yeah, buying the best decks straight away is considered cheating so you're best to buy stanton directs.

i'd say get second hand 1210's mk2, they're about 300 and will be in just as good working order as brand new ones
