Every now and then there is something of a cull of people who are not active.

Unfortunately there are some folk who are only in the group to try to cause trouble or stir shit, or grab selective screenshots to share outside the group. Now there might only be a small handful of people doing anything "nasty" (which is not nearly as much as some people like to believe), but to some people who only see what they are shown they assume everyone in the group is like that. Far from it.

It's like saying everyone in Liverpool is a car thief, or all Millwall fans are hooligans, even despite never having set foot in Liverpool or attended a Millwall match.

I see a hell of a lot more hatred and "toxic" people in other groups I am in.
