Can anybody help me out wit dis? Here's what I want to do: plug my mixer into my PC so that I can make a live mix and record it. My question is, what kind of software/app do I need to do this, if any? Is it easy? Is it difficult? I don't need any editing or anything - All I need to do is transfer the sound to a file on my computer. Any ideas please LMK - thanks....

well for software you could use cooledit (i cant get it somehow) and you can use goldwave ,which i have just got you have to pay for them i think...soundforge may do it too but i dont know....

well those programs will record the sound live ,if im picking what you said correctly ...you will need cables to connect your decks to PC, but i think i picked up wrong as that is obvious....

Sorry! ..........Do i ask to many Questions?

yep soundforge will record it for you and ya can save it as real audio,wave,mp3 etc etc
www.sonicfoundry.com
as for cables, you need a 3.5mm jack into phono, stereo obviously, and these go into the line in on your soundcard, and record out on the mixer

Smilee:

Head down to Maplin or Radio Shack and get a phono splitter. It splits the output from one phono socket into two... they cost about £1.50 I think off the top of my head

there should be at least 2 outputs in your mixer so you shouldn't need that. one will say master and one will say record. plug the pc cable into record

I can't see B&Q selling them.... I get my stuff like that from Maplin.

If you can't get to a maplin shop then you can buy online at www.maplin.co.uk

but will any of these programs make it possible to select different track cues like on a regular, any day, cd.......or will the recording have to stay as a whole (meaning one track) when it gets burned to a cd??????

If your using Nero to burn cds you can edit a 74 minute mp3 by putting "split points" in the mp3, this saves having to cut the mp3 to piece, which if you have a slow computer, can take a whole load of time. make sure when you burn your mix to cd that you have the gap between tracks set to "0" that way you wont get annoying spaces between songs. when i get on the other computer (the one i have nero on) i can give you a more indepth solution to the prob.
